There’s something pretty special about watching your child walk in and realize Santa is actually there.
They get to tell him what they’re hoping for this Christmas, answer his questions, show him just how long their list has gotten, and have a few minutes where the whole experience feels like it belongs to them.
And somewhere between choosing the Christmas outfits and finding the bow you put in a very safe place, you may start wondering how the whole thing actually works.
If you’ve never booked Tulsa Santa mini sessions before, you probably have a few questions. Is ten minutes actually enough time? What happens when we walk in? Do I need to bring anything? And what happens if my three-year-old, who has talked about Santa approximately 47 times this week, decides Mom’s lap is a much better place to be?
As a mom of four and a photographer who has spent a lot of time photographing children, I can promise you that kids are going to show up as themselves. Some walk in ready to tell Santa their entire Christmas list before I’ve taken the first photograph. Others need a minute to take it all in.
All normal.
My Tulsa Santa mini Sessions are intentionally designed with that in mind. Each family gets a private 10-minute experience with Santa, giving your children time to talk with him, take everything in, and simply be themselves while I photograph all those little interactions along the way.
So, if Tulsa Santa Mini pictures are on your Christmas list this year, here’s exactly what you can expect.

So, What Exactly Is a Santa Mini Session?
First things first. A Santa mini session is not a full portrait session squeezed into ten minutes. And I think understanding that makes the whole experience easier.
During a full family portrait session, we have time to walk around, change locations, create different groupings, take breaks, and let the session unfold over a longer period of time. A mini session is different. Everything is already waiting for you. The set, the lighting, and Santa are all ready. All you do is walk in with your children dressed, and we can get right to the good part!
My Tulsa Santa mini sessions include a private 10-minute experience with Santa and 10 digital images. And when I say experience, I mean it.
Of course, we’ll create that classic photograph of your children with Santa. Grandma needs it. The Christmas card needs it. But that isn’t the only thing I’m watching for.
I’m watching your daughter’s face when Santa asks what she wants for Christmas. I’m watching your son carefully explain the very specific Lego set he’s hoping to find under the tree. I’m watching siblings whisper to each other. I’m watching for the tiny hand reaching for Santa’s.
Because those are the photographs that actually tell me something about your children this Christmas.
A mall Santa visit can absolutely be a fun tradition, but my sessions are intentionally a little different. You have a reserved time. Your family has Santa to yourselves. And instead of needing to get one photograph before the next family steps up, I’m photographing the interaction as it happens.
That’s what the mini session format is designed to give you. Not 45 minutes of posing.
Ten intentional minutes of Christmas.

Tip #1: Give Yourself a Little Margin Before Your Tulsa Santa Mini Sessions
Is 10 minutes enough? Yes! And this is probably the question I would ask, too.
Ten minutes sounds very short when you’re imagining the amount of work required to get multiple children dressed in Christmas clothes and out of your house. You spent longer than ten minutes finding everyone’s shoes. I know.
But here’s the thing: once you arrive, all of that prep work is done! That means we can accomplish quite a bit in ten minutes. We get their excitement before they’re distracted, and we let Santa be the star of the room.
The trick is arriving ready. Because Tulsa Santa Mini Sessions run on reserved time slots, I recommend arriving early enough to park, take care of any last-minute face wipes, straighten the bow, and make sure everyone is ready before your session begins.
Give yourself enough margin that you don’t feel rushed. That matters more than you might think. I’ll text you when it’s your turn to hop out of the car, so we can keep Santa a surprise until it’s time to see him! 🤍

Tip #2: Keep What You Bring Simple
Here’s where I give you permission to leave half the house at home. You really don’t need much! Come dressed and ready. That’s the big one.
Have shoes on. Hair done. Bows in. Faces wiped. Suspenders suspended. Whatever needs to happen, do as much of it as possible before your scheduled time.
If you have a baby or toddler, a backup outfit can be helpful in case of a blowout or spit-up on the way to the session. A small comfort item can also be helpful for a particularly shy little one. And if you know your child turns into a completely different person when they’re hungry, a simple snack before the session may be their saving grace.
Beyond that, keep it simple. There’s no need to pack a bag full of toys, candy, or sing-along songs to make your child smile. The more adults try to gain a child’s attention, the harder it can be for them to simply interact with Santa.
And I want you to be able to experience seeing the joy of Santa in their eyes, too! 🤍

Tip #3: Let Your Child Experience Santa
What Happens When You Walk In?
This part is simpler than most parents expect. When your session begins, your child gets to meet Santa, and one of the best things you can do is simply give them a minute to take it all in.
It’s so natural to want to help. “Look at Santa!” “Smile!” “Say cheese!” I know why we do it. We love our babies and are excited for them! But here’s your permission to take that job off your plate.
Let your child notice Santa. Let Santa talk to them. Let them answer. Let me watch. Because one of the things I’ve learned from photographing children is that the best expressions are rarely the ones we ask them to give us. The magic usually happens right before or right after.
It’s the grin when Santa knows something they didn’t expect him to know. The serious little face while they explain their Christmas list. The sideways glance at a sibling. The laugh. The wonder. Those little moments are easy to miss when everyone is focused on getting the perfect smile.
So if I need your help, I promise I’ll ask! Otherwise, your job is wonderfully simple.
Enjoy your children. I’ll photograph them.

What If My Child Needs a Little Time to Warm Up?
Some children need a moment to warm up. Some want Mom nearby, and some are perfectly happy to talk to Santa as long as we don’t suggest actually sitting with him.
That’s okay. We work with the child in front of us.
Sometimes that means giving them a moment. Sometimes a sibling goes first, or we create a little distance and let them observe. And sometimes the skeptical expression they give Santa ends up being the photograph everyone adores for the next 20 years.
And yes, sometimes there are tears. That doesn’t mean we can’t create something you’ll love.
If you have a child who tends to be hesitant in new situations, I recommend spending the days leading up to your session getting them excited about the experience rather than the photograph.
Instead of focusing on sitting with Santa and smiling for the camera, talk about what they get to tell him.
“What are you going to tell Santa you want for Christmas?”
“Do you think Santa knows what your favorite toy is?”
“Should we ask Santa about the reindeer?”
Make the interaction the exciting part. Let me worry about the photograph. 🤍

Tip #4: Choose Outfits They Can Be Themselves In
For Santa pictures, I love outfits that feel classic, festive, and like your children. Think Christmas dresses, velvet, sweaters, traditional pajamas, a classic plaid, or a sweet bow. Simple pieces that coordinate without making every child look like they came out of the exact same box.
You don’t need everyone to match. Think coordinating rather than identical.
And comfort matters, too! That beautiful dress is significantly less beautiful if your daughter spends the entire session pulling at the collar because it itches.
One practical tip? Try everything on several days before your session.
Not the night before. And definitely not five minutes before you need to leave. Children have a habit of growing when we aren’t looking, and discovering that the Christmas pants you bought two months ago are now capris is not the kind of Christmas surprise we’re going for. 😉

How Many Pictures Will We Receive?
My 2026 Tulsa Santa Mini Sessions include 10 digital images.
Your final photographs are professionally prepared and delivered through an online gallery, ready for you to use for Christmas cards, gifts, prints, and all. And yes, we really can create variety in ten minutes.
Remember, I’m not only photographing one pose.
I’m photographing the experience.
We’ll create the classic Santa portrait, but I’m also watching for those little interactions in between. The conversation. The smiles. The details. Because yes, I want the Christmas card picture. But I also want the photograph that makes you say, “Oh my goodness. That is so him!”

What Makes These Different From Mall Santa Pictures?
There’s something wonderfully nostalgic about a mall Santa. I have childhood Santa pictures, too, and I love having them.
What makes my Tulsa Santa mini sessions a little different is the privacy. Your family has a reserved time with Santa, giving your children a few minutes to take him in, talk with him, and enjoy the experience without feeling rushed.
And it gives me the opportunity to photograph more than the classic sit-and-smile picture.
I want the photograph of your child actually talking to Santa. The Christmas wish. The expression on their face while they listen to him. The little interactions you couldn’t have planned ahead of time.
I want to preserve a little piece of who they are this Christmas.
Because that’s what will matter later.
What Booking a Santa Mini Session With Me Looks Like
I want the entire process to feel simple from the beginning. My 2026 Tulsa Santa mini sessions take place November 21st in Downtown Bixby, convenient for families coming from Tulsa, Bixby, Jenks, Broken Arrow, and surrounding areas.
Simply choose your time online, and I’ll send everything you need to know before your session. Then, on November 21st, show up with your children dressed and ready.
That’s it! 🤍

The Part About Santa Pictures I Think We Forget
Right now, you’re probably booking these pictures for Christmas 2026. You need the Christmas card. You’d like something for Grandma. You want to document the kids with Santa. All perfectly good reasons.
But I have my own childhood Christmas portraits, and now I have children old enough to stop and look at them. That changes the way I see this whole thing.
Because someday, you aren’t going to notice whether your toddler’s bow was sitting two centimeters too far to the left. You’re going to notice how little she was. You’ll see the missing teeth, the baby cheeks, and the tiny hand tucked into Santa’s.
And suddenly, you’ll remember the year.
“Oh, that was the year she asked for…”
“Look how little they were.”
That’s the funny thing about photographs. We take them for now, but we rarely understand what they’re worth to us until later.
And that is probably my favorite part of these sessions. I get to give you the pretty Christmas card picture you need today, but tucked inside that same gallery might be a photograph you pull out 20 Christmases from now.

Frequently Asked Questions About Tulsa Santa Mini Sessions
How long is a Santa mini session?
My Tulsa Santa Mini Sessions are 10 minutes long. Because Santa, the set, and lighting are ready before you arrive, we can begin photographing right away. The short format also works beautifully for young children because we can photograph them while the experience still feels new and exciting.
What should my kids wear to a Santa mini session?
I recommend something classic and comfortable. Christmas dresses, velvet, sweaters, traditional pajamas, and simple coordinating outfits photograph beautifully. I recommend coordinating siblings rather than matching them exactly and trying every outfit on several days before your session.
How many photos do we get from a Santa mini session?
Each 2026 Santa Session includes 10 professionally prepared digital images delivered through a private online gallery. They’re perfect for Christmas cards, gifts, prints, and keeping a little piece of this Christmas.

Your professionally prepared images will be delivered through an online gallery after your session so you can use them for your holiday cards, gifts, and prints.
