It’s officially that time of year. School is in full swing, football is back, the mornings are finally starting to feel a little cooler, and somehow we’re already heading into the last part of September. Which means fall family portrait season is here. 🍂

Every year, this season seems to sneak up on us. One minute we’re settling into new school routines and figuring out who needs to be where after school, and the next we’re thinking about Halloween costumes, Thanksgiving plans, Christmas cards, and whether we actually have a recent photograph with everyone in it.

If Tulsa family portraits are on your list this year, there’s one thing I want you to know: my available family session dates are always released to my email list first. If you’re hoping to photograph your family with me this fall, joining the list is the best way to hear about available September, October, and November dates before I share them anywhere else.

1. Fall Tulsa Family Portrait Dates Are Limited

Fall is one of my favorite times to photograph families in Oklahoma. The evenings get cooler, the light is beautiful, the colors begin to change, and there’s something about this season that makes us want to hold onto our people just a little tighter.

It’s also one of the busiest seasons of the year. Between school schedules, football games, practices, travel, and everything else happening in family life, there are only so many evenings and weekends that work well for portraits. I intentionally keep a limited number of family sessions on my calendar so I can give each family the time and attention they deserve rather than trying to squeeze as many sessions as possible into a few short weeks.

Keeping some margin in my calendar also gives us a little breathing room for the one thing we can never completely plan for: Oklahoma weather. 😂 We might have a beautiful 65-degree October evening, or Oklahoma might decide to give us 30 mph winds and 87 degrees. Leaving some flexibility means that if we need to adjust because of weather, we have options.

My Email List Gets First Access to Fall Session Dates

If you’re local to Tulsa and know you’d like family portraits with me this year, joining my email list is the best place to start. Whenever I release available family session times, my email subscribers hear about them first and have the first opportunity to choose a date before I share remaining availability publicly.

There’s no obligation to book by joining. It simply means you’ll be the first to know what’s coming up and when new dates become available. So if you’ve been thinking, We really need updated family pictures this year, joining the list gives you a chance to get ahead and find a date that actually works for your family. 😉

Missed Early Access? You Can Still Check Fall Availability

If you’re finding this after fall session dates have already been released, you haven’t missed your chance! Any remaining Tulsa family portrait dates are available to reserve online.

You can view current availability and choose the session date that works best for your family below. If you don’t see a date that works, you’re always welcome to reach out. Depending on the time of year, I may have additional weekday availability or another session option that would be a better fit.

And if this fall is already full, I’d still love to have you join my email list. You’ll be the first to hear about newly released dates, seasonal sessions, and future availability

2. You’ll Have More Options for Your Family

There really isn’t one perfect October weekend that every family needs to photograph. The best session time is the one that works well for your people.

Maybe your youngest does best earlier in the evening. Maybe Friday nights are spent at football games, or your weekends are already filling up with practices, birthday parties, school events, and travel. Every family’s schedule looks a little different, and having access to available dates earlier simply gives you more choices.

It also gives us more flexibility when choosing where your session will take place. Maybe you’re picturing an open field with beautiful evening light, a little fall color, or a location that feels especially meaningful to your family. With your date secured, we have time to think through those details instead of simply choosing based on what is still available.

Because the goal isn’t just to check family pictures off the list. It’s to create photographs that feel like your family in this season.

3. You’ll Have Time to Plan Your Fall Tulsa Family Portraits

One of the biggest benefits of scheduling your Tulsa family portraits early is having time to plan without feeling rushed.

Once your session is reserved, we can start thinking through the details together. We’ll talk about location, what everyone will wear, and what you want your photographs to feel like. You don’t need to have any of that figured out before you book, and you definitely don’t have to coordinate your entire family’s wardrobe on your own. That’s part of the process, and I’m here to help.

I know that when most moms schedule family portraits, there’s usually one request sitting somewhere in the back of their minds: Please, just give me one good picture where everyone is looking and smiling.

Of course, we’ll make sure you have that classic family portrait. But I’m also watching for everything happening in between – the little hand reaching for yours, the sibling giggles, the way your youngest still fits on your hip, and the moments when everyone forgets about the camera and simply enjoys being together.

Those in-between moments are often the photographs that end up meaning the most because they show more than what your family looked like. They hold onto a little bit of what this season actually felt like. They become a record of your children at these exact ages, personalities and all.

4. Your Portraits Will Be Ready Before the Holiday Rush

For many families, fall portraits and Christmas cards go hand in hand. Scheduling your session earlier in the season gives you one less thing to think about when the holidays arrive.

Your session is finished, your gallery is delivered, and your photographs are ready when you want to order Christmas cards, create gifts for grandparents, or finally update the frames around your home.

Having everything ready ahead of time means that when the holiday season arrives, you can enjoy it without family portraits becoming one more thing you’re trying to squeeze in.

More importantly, I never want your family photographs to feel like something we rushed through just to meet a holiday deadline. I want us to have the time to create photographs you’ll still want hanging on your walls long after the Christmas cards have come down.

Because while Christmas cards might be the reason you finally get everyone in front of the camera, these photographs become something much bigger over time. They become a record of your children at these exact ages—the missing teeth, the personalities, the way they fit in your arms, and all the little things that will look different before you know it.

Ready for Your Fall Tulsa Family Portraits?

If Tulsa family portraits have been sitting somewhere on your mental to-do list, consider this your reminder that fall sessions are happening now. September always seems to be the point when the rest of the year suddenly speeds up, and October and November will be here before we know it.

If booking is already open, any remaining fall family session dates are available to reserve online.

If you’re reading this before dates have been released -or this year’s sessions are already full – join my email list. My subscribers are always the first to hear about new family session dates before they’re shared publicly.

Once your date is reserved, we’ll take it from there. We’ll choose a location, figure out what everyone is wearing, and make a plan that feels right for your family. Then, when your session arrives, you can simply bring your people and let them be themselves.

I’ll take care of preserving this season for you. 🤍
