I’ve found from my past experience as a photographer, Fall is typically the busiest season for photographers. The vibrant colors and cozy sweaters make for the perfect photo ops, but the increase in demand can quickly turn into burnout for a photographer!

For us mompreneurs, juggling family life and a busy business season, can feel overwhelming if we don’t lay out the ground work before heading into the season.

Here are 3 ways to set yourself up for success and keep your sanity intact as you dive into Fall:

1. Set Up a Project Management Tool

10 years ago as a photographer, I would use a laminated spreadsheet hung on my wall to track my client workflow. While it worked on the surface level, it could not help me vision cast, notify me of upcoming deadlines, or be my central business hub.

In fact, I’ve found that project management tools (my fav is Asana!) are invaluable for keeping track of tasks and deadlines.

Use a project management tool to create a central hub for your business, whether it’s client sessions, launch planning, or your marketing calendar.

Design workflows so that you can keep the main things the main things. This organization will keep you on top of your game and ensure nothing slips through the cracks. Need help getting it all set up? Reach out here and let’s chat about how I can help.

2. Do a Time Audit

For me, the first thing I do when a season changes is to do a time audit. This highlights how much time I truly have available between family commitments and business responsibilities. By the end of a time audit I have found I am able spend my time peacefully and on purpose. Which I count as a win!

Something to consider, don’t forget to schedule breaks, family time, and moments to recharge!

3. Update Your Client Experience

Lastly, take time to review and update your client experience and onboarding processes. Streamline your process to make it as smooth and seamless as possible. We want each and every one of our clients to receive the same intentional care and attention!

Consider using a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system like Dubsado. It will help you manage client relationships, contracts, and invoices all in one place. In fact, setting up your CRM ahead of time will help ensure you’re ready to handle a surge in bookings without missing a beat.

Photographer unhurried and organized

TL;DR: In other words, spending intentional time upfront can really shift the entire fall season as a photographer and mom. You’ll be able to enjoy the beauty of the season with your family while still being able to meet your clients’ needs with confidence and creativity.
